The Suffolk County Retired Police Detective Association was formed in 1988 by James Thompson, Robert Amato, Jack Wherry, Gasper Randazzo, Edwin Simmons, and Richard Batchelder (Sheriffs Office).

Purpose

Our purpose is to protect the benefits of retired members since they have no voice in labor negotiations. We provide members with an opportunity to socialize through meetings and other social activities. We also assist the families of deceased members.

Organization

The Association is a member of the Alliance of Public Retiree Organizations of New York State. The Alliance is a combined group of 45 retiree organizations including police, fire, teachers, C.S.E.A., and the Retired Public Employees Association, Inc. The combined membership represents over 500,000 retirees.
